Artist's description:
Built on Greenwich Marsh in 1870, the clipper Hallowe'en was a sister ship to the Blackadder and world famous Cutty Sark. Sailing the trade routes to Australia and the Far East, to bring home cargoes of wool and tea in the fastest possible time, in 1887 the ship foundered on rocks off the coast of Devon and was wrecked, the crew rescued by the local lifeboat, with a majority of the tea lost never to be recovered. The Hallowe'en and this painting of the historic clipper features in a book I have written and illustrated, Three Greenwich Built Ships, published by Amberley Publishing in 2013.
