Great White Sorcerer is an exquisite sculpture made from driftwood (White oak) and recycled metal. This absolute unique white owl has got an amazing presence. The artist first collected the driftwood piece because of its perfect owl shape. When it was found, it was covered by very thick bark. Nothing could presage the magnificent oak wood that was hiding underneath. The artist was amazed when she found the beautiful natural lines in the wood, which seem to look like wings.
These pieces make the pride and joy of the serious art collector and for many good reasons. The first one being that these pieces are an absolute rarity. One must walk hundred kilometers during the course of a full season only to find less than a dozen pieces that are worth considering for sculpting. And that's not all. Before collecting the piece, driftwood must respond to several criteria: quality of natural pre-sculpted shapes, quality of wood and over all state of dryness. Regarding the metal used, it must be cleaned, treated to prevent further rust and then welded. In fact, driftwood sculpting is a very rewarding process because the results from beginning to end are always a wonder. Basically, this kind of art is good teamwork between the artist and Mother Nature.
Please note that I can provide a video of the piece if you require a 3D view. More pictures also available upon request.
