This piece marks a return to a favourite venue of mine: The Union Canal in Edinburgh. For me, a walk along the canal is similar to a railway journey. You are offered a view of the backs of houses and a different perspective on the world. This image was executed from a watercolour sketch done on a particularly blustery summer's day. The grasses and reeds swayed in the breeze yet the water itself was relatively calm. The painting is executed in oils on canvas and painted around the sides. The work is signed and dated on the front.
