This was such a fun and grand piece to do. I call it “Grandeur” not only for eye catching and how big it is, but for how many amazing specimens of stones I used.
I really went all out with this painting in adding so many semi-precious stones. Each piece is so unique and great on its own, but that’s what makes this piece so grand is when you put them all together it really makes a statement.
I have collected these stones one by one and strand by strand for a year. I have collected them at bead and jewelry shows, found online through out the world. I have used one or two in paintings before and didnt feel like they spoke and made an impact. However when I was collecting them and had them all grouped on the table, I was mesmerized. They were so amazing like that I knew from my reaction from seeing the stones as they were that I had to do a large, grand piece with alot of different stones.
I used metallic acrylic paint for the sky and oil for the foreground. I used tissue paper for the texture which I feel in person really brings it to life and more dimension. I crushed up clear quartz to line the clouds with, which really sparkle under the right light.
This was one of the funnest projects I have done and I hope you enjoy it as much as I loved putting it together.
