This painting makes part of the Israeli Cycle, which was done in Tel Aviv. The studio was improvised - it was just a corner in an abandoned textile factory - while my being there turned into a most thrilling adventure:
I was there alone - a meagre I amidst big, heavy machines, and other presences that fluttered about the place, utterly unsubstantial but very talkative, remembering, recounting, warning . . .
