Artist's description:

Hall Ranch, which is located just outside of Lyons, Colorado, USA, is a favorite place of mine to visit. This is the second time I've painted this impressive topographical feature known as a hogback. On June 6, 2014, I painted this on location at Hall Ranch, which is a public recreational area where people bike or hike the trails. The weather that day was typical for June in Colorado. It was warm and clouds were building for an afternoon shower. I took cover in my Subaru Outback, and the shower passed. As I spent more and more time on the painting, the very late-afternoon sun started to create a glow on the outcropping of rocks. The little wildflowers were blowing gently in the breeze, and a hiker who passed by was delighted that I had included some wildflowers in the painting.
