This painting is from "Mini Bristol" series. Impasto (alla prima, wet-on-wet) technique that occurred in Rembrandt, Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Frank Auerbach, Jackson Pollock, and Willem de Kooning masterpieces, was used to create thickly texture that are rich in colour and depth.

A Bristol Post report suggested "you can buy anything you could ever need" on Gloucester Road, and that it captured the independent spirit of the local community well.
