Artist's description:

Created with soft pastels and ink on mixed media paper. This piece has been professionally mounted (cold pressed) on a Masonite board using archival glue.

When I created this I had started a stage where I had fallen in love with setting pastels with rubbing alcohol. About a week after painting this I got really sick doing this on a piece in a poorly venilated room and got supper sick. Like..."Am I dying?" sick. So I won't be creating many more pieces like this until I buy a gas mask or something.

The piece itself was inspired by on the day I painted it I was feeling the waning of American influence in the world and in reminiscence was looking back at the glory of our, um democracy ;-) and what a good run it has been.
