'Glass Reflections with Hydrangeas 2' is part of my popular signature 'Glass Reflections range'. Reflective surfaces play a large part in my paintings, because I like the use of symmetry in my work and I am often inspired by the shapes and patterns that you see in the Art Deco period.
I also like giving a twist to the traditional still life composition by looking at everyday objects from an unfamiliar perspective and developing an abstract design from the shapes formed; the use of glass objects aid me in this pursuit because the shapes and colours of other objects are magnified through the glass. Hydrangeas are such a beautiful flower and their colours resonate throughout the design.
Stretched canvas, sanded then primed with gesso. Painted in oils and then gloss varnished
