Original artwork description:

The distant peak of El Turbon is peeking over the horizon in this lakeside plein air painting. It's early spring, and the snow is still covering the summit. This will soon melt and flow down the river Isabena, raising the water level dramatically.
Inspired by Fred Yates, I have painted the people who happened to walk by. Their car can be seen like a tiny insect on a distant shore. I like this small detail, as it is contemporary and a social commentary on car use.
Fred Yates also inspired my use of gloves and finger painting for certain parts of the scene, giving fresh lively marks ( it's worth finding the online videos of Fred at work).
