Yang Xie Ge was an extraordinary gifted child.
She was one of the finest painters in Southern China. Her nickname Little Pigeon.
As a Freelance Photographer supplying The Guardian and Obsever and Independent Newspaers and Magazines.I worked some time in Gulin City. I meet with Professors at the University and gave lectures on Picasso and Matisse. Thus gaining an Honorary Professorship. Bringing books on Art kindly donated by Phaidon Press in the UK I build a great relationship with the Chinese over several years.
During this time I managed to put together a book on Childrens Art call Cradle of Prodigies.
Ge was my star in the book but Li Yan and Meng yan were close runners.
I made this portrait for Ge's forthcoming exhibit in Japan .... her family eventually choose the colour image.
This was an exciting time in my life..... Yang Xie Ge was made on a Rolleiflex so it is a 6x6 Square image .... and beautiful it is .... keith x
