Two loving horses, white and black on a gilded gold background. Before the gold gild was applied, I used a red oxide paint underlayer. As the gold cracks (when it's applied), the red shows through in spots and gives the painting a wonderful warm, but aged quality.
The horses are in acrylic and ink over collage. There is a good amount of texture due to the collage and gilding. There is a gloss varnish applied. The sides are painted black and this is ready to hang.
This was a really fun piece to make! The gild is hard to work with...you just have to breathe and go slow...these horses taught me how to do that.
