In the run up to Halloween this year I really wanted to do some classic monster paintings. The idea was to create some spooky, atmospheric creature/character paintings.
One of the first (and most obvious) ideas I had was to paint a ghost. The real challenge was in how to it. I didn't want to give the ghost an identity - I wanted it to be mysterious, vague, an entity, a spectre. Initially the painting had a pallet limited to blues and purples, but it felt like it was missing something. I added the pumpkins and fallen leaves to balance out the cool colours with some warmth.
