Artist's description:

Title: German Conversations

Medium: Hand pulled 6 x 9 inch Dark Field Monotype with Colored Pencil

Support: Rives BFK Printmaking paper

Process: Monotypes are made by painting on a smooth (not etched) plate, and pressing the still-wet pigments against paper. For this piece, I used oil based etching ink on a plexiglass plate. The ink was rolled onto the plate with a brayer, and the figure was lifted out of the wet ink in a subtractive process with my finger tips, points and rags, etc. After the ink on the print was dry, I added colored pencil.

Edition: This is an edition of 1 (one).

Frame: The art is offered professionally matted and framed.

Story: The image was based on a photo a friend took during a trip to Germany in the late 1980's; everyone was speaking German, and teaching words like "flower" and "see you later" to those of us who didn't know the language.
