Geisha by the river

Painted on the very day we were booked to go to Japan for the Sukara (cherry blossom) festival .
Moving away from the pure ukiyo-e style (areas of flat pure colour) to a more textured approach, but still stylised rather than realistic, and with the black outlining of the 18th C woodcuts
