Question for the artist?

Artist's description:

This painting was undertaken using photo's and sketches from Bempton Cliffs where I make an annual trip in Spring to see them along with Puffins, Guillemots, Kittiwakes and Razor Bills. The RSPB centre here is fantastic and their work cannot be praised enough. Gannets are a long time favourite of mine. I especially like the way that they have been 'engineered' by evolution to be the perfect diving predator! to watch them dive above a shoal of mackerel is an incredible site but few observers really appreciate the way their skulls, neck and eyes have all evolved to make this possible. Without this specialisation they would die on impact! I deliberately wanted to show the beautiful detail of these birds whilst also showing them dive (not easy) I have also tried to show birds on impact and do hope this picture tells a story
