I loved letting the paint drip and run to bring about a unique sense of spontaneity. The free approach to this painting resulted in a totally original outcome that could never have been fully foreseen.
I love the idea of merging the atmosphere with the architecture, the sky with water and all elements together. It somehow stimulates and merges the senses and makes for a fresh, lasting and vivid experience each time the painting is observed.
Whenever I paint the magnificent Houses of Parliament, it is as though all things lead to it, as though nothing else exists beyond it's boundaries. I explored this theme by extending the bridge as if to reach far into the mysterious world that looms somewhere beyond the canvas.
Painted loosely and expressively in acrylics, varnished with two coats of UV resistant varnish.
Bold and original, a haunting and lasting memory of London's iconic landmark.
I love the way in which the quintessential redness of the bus is poignantly reflected in the Thames which falls and disappears from the canvas.
Even my signature runs in the paint which seeks to leave the canvas.
