▶︎Behind the Scenes Creative Journey

This acrylic and resin mixed media artwork is part of an ongoing series I'm currently working on. The motif of this series is really about preserving the landscapes that we cherish. For me personally, I've lived in Sydney for almost a decade, like millions of lucky tourists and locals, I have enjoyed some of the world's most breathtakingly beautiful beaches and coastal scenes in Australia. This piece is named after the epic coastal walk along the rocky cliffs between Bondi and Bronte Beach, where the views of the southern Pacific Ocean you get at every turn is exhilarating and priceless!

One aspect I enjoyed the most while making this unique piece of art is the intricate process of layer building. In order to capture the essence and depth of those iconic deep turquoise water, I create multiple layers of tinted resin one layer at a time. Each layer takes about 24 hours to cure. I also sand the layers in between so the resin adheres properly. It was a slow yet rewarding journey, by taking additional steps and focusing on the quality of the work, I'm very excited to say that this piece turns out so brilliantly beautiful, under different lights and angles, your eyes will perceive the subtle variations in those turquoise layers and blue-green hues, much like the ever-changing sparkling pacific ocean that we love so much.

If you have been following me on Facebook or Instagram, you would've noticed that I have started creating with a new brand of resin, ArtResin. It's a professional grade resin brand for artist, and this piece of artwork is made with ArtResin. According to ArtResin, it has additional stabilisation additives that prevent long-term yellowing and other degradative effects caused from UV light, which can be a common problem for Epoxy resins artworks. I have a video clip on Instagram showing you a close up view of me holding and moving the painting under sunlight, so you can get a glimpse of what it looks like in real life. It can be challenging to take an accurate photo of a resin artwork, due to its reflective nature, the depth of colours, and the layers that went into it.

If you are interested in exploring more details on my creative process and journey of making each unique piece of artwork, feel free to follow me on Instagram @vanesslifineart, I post progress pictures often and also time-lapse videos of me making art.
