A uniquely French institution, a café selling newspapers, cigarettes, magazines, pungent smells of nicotine, caffeine, paper and chocolate. Ubiquitous. Familiar. A friendly face each morning, a syrupy espresso and flaky croissant at a formica counter. Browning notices on walls, laws and edicts of the French Republic.
This work is rich in detail, in realism and in colour and light. A wonderful addition to any collection of French work, a great gift.
Texture has been added to create extra depth. The canvas is 0.5 inches deep and can therefore hang without a frame if wished.
