I am reaching a stage of practice where I really could not predict the forms that will be offered. There is just technical background and experience with me.
There is, however, a desire that drives this work, that of creating a moment in suspension. A desire for breath that the composition, the material and the texture nevertheless prevent from making airy.
A state between anchoring and taking off.
It's like freezing a sign before it means anything. The forms aggregate but only the one who looks decides their purpose.
Suspension ... like this punctuation in several points, which means nothing in itself but which marks a promise, an opening towards what could complete the sentence. It gives free rein to another reality.
We are like these pieces of incomplete or altered sentences: open fragments that others make resonate elsewhere and louder.
As in this work, we are building. First forms are created with its first harmonies and ruptures but for there to be body, to offer depth, one must be able to advance confidently towards other proposals. We cover and we remove.
There is no longer any fear today because I integrate the wanderings and the errors. It is they who make the result unique. There are the thicknesses of the work, the tears of radicality, the transparencies of gentleness, the structures built over time.
It’s the opposite of minimalism. It’s a cumulation.
I use the pastel in the shield and its brightness, the oil pastel and its smoothness, the acrylic and its sharpness, the paper and its modularity, the Indian ink and its depth. So many properties that I marry so that Fragment N ° 5 offers with quality a story, an opening.
