This painting was done on a recent visit to Formby, Merseyside.
The canvas is deep (4cm) so there is no need for framing it. The palette is made up of soft lilacs, cottage greens and the lightest of cornflower blues. Small pebbles in the foreground are under a 'wash' of water in the shallows, and the headland sits proudly in the middle distance to the left. It is an asymmetrical piece, but still in balance due to the joining of the sea and sky. Gentle waves break in the middle.
