Artist's description:

I was touched by the meek spirit of horses and more so the story behind this pair of mother horse and her foal. Mother Rosie was adopted by a kind owner and was set free in secured ground. At the same time she was pregnant and gave birth to Ollie the foal at her new home. Ollie has free spirit and funkiness persona (showed in my other painting "Ollie"). I kindled with the similar spirit and that's the reason why I create art.

The painting was sculpted with acrylic molding paste - a very sticky material and and unlike clay it is hard to mold into shapes. It was let dried for quite a long while before I could lay out the colors because of the thickness (about an inch). If there is any mistakes it is hard to correct after it is dried up. I poured fluid acrylic paints onto the painting and this is another tough medium to manage for a semi-abstract subject.

The painting is coated with gloss gel, and gloss varnish for protection from harmful UV & dust. The sides are finished with continual drips of colors so frame is optional, and the back is sealed with chipboard. It is tightly wired and ready to be hung without frame.

Materials used:

acrylic molding paste, acrylic paints
