Artist's description:

Despite the title, this work was one of the first of the series. It was produced in the early 90's when I spent most of my time copying old master panels. Occasionally in order to escape the strict discipline of the former commissions , I would indulge in the joyous technique of the Impressionists. The moment had to be captured quickly and the transient nature of both subject and sunlight meant that only a couple of hours over a period of two or three days were available for completion. The result of such a study is remarkably rewarding as the picture takes on a vitality which the original subject matter loses.
