Artist's description:

"The Flight #4", 2017, 11x14 inches, mixed media and collage on paper. Signed on the front with the title and the date.

"The Flight" is a series of four paintings that can be presented individually or together. Each painting shows a human figure in a theatrical pose. Although the tight space surrounding their bodies gives the impression of a box, they seem ready to move or even fly. The contrast in black and white values is very strong, which emphasizes the physical strength of the body. The use of burnt umber in the background reflects the connection to the nature. These paintings tend to invigorate the viewer.

In this series of paintings, I have used some of my 1 to 10 min pose figure drawings from previous years. First, I cut various poses out of the original drawings and then used them in richer compositions. I chose collage materials like empty sticker frames, parts of storage boxes and wrapping paper to create analytic forms. I also found some chaotic forms from artistic wrist exercises. The tension between these forms is the basis of my perception on human body.

Materials used:

Mixed paint media, parts of paper storage box, parts of cardboard
