Artist's description:

Inspired by my life within the financial world, there’s a very real correlation between this style of art and the mathematical thinking of charts and numbers. It’s bold – a statement maker and one that suits both decorative motifs as well as a stand-alone piece of art.

To create such a piece I utilise a wooden panel, allowing me to physically score and gauge the surface.

Along with being aesthetically pleasing, I want such works to involve the social, political and economic themes in which I live, as well as having a particular leaning towards the world of finance that’s been such a large part of my life. The sharp lines used symbolise the cutting through of words, phrases and media headlines that not only relate to London life in general, but the frenetic gathering of all within the square mile of The City.

Its important to me that such a work conveys emotion and expression, but without the need to contain an object or a form as we know it. The origin is in geometric abstraction and Orphism. Unlike my other distinctive style, the dominating force is social commentary, as opposed to emotional release.

75 x 80 x 1 cm.
