Artist's description:

The Japanese Cherry, also known under the beautiful name of Sakura - in Japanese : サクラ is probably one of the most beautiful and spectacular trees when blooming.
These magnificent trees are one of the symbols of Japan. When the time of blooming has come, starting in January in the region of Okinawa until March/April in the region of Kyoto and Tokyo, a custom called hanami leads Japanese to picnicking under the Sakuras. They are a real part of their life to the extent that every year the Japanese Meteorological Agency and the public track the sakura zensen (cherry blossom front).
Sakuras can reach very old ages. Some of them are even known to reach 1500 years old, maybe older.
