On my trip to parts of Europe I was inspired by the beautiful landscapes I encountered. I fell in love with the mountains, the clear skies, colors and picturesque views. The silent atmosphere blew my mind way!
Incorporating all these visual elements from my vacations I created my own landscape using Acrylic on canvas textured paper. I sketched out all the creative elements from memory and composed it correctly onto the page. I brushed down the with a light blue keeping it pale in tone. I portrayed all the details and colors onto the rocky mountains using a bright brown and burnt umber paint. I started to see it was coming along nicely working my way a little bit further down to the land painting it a bright green. On top I painted the outlines of the houses and camp shelters. This is the area where I applied small color details on the houses working with reds, white, cream, brown and black.
Next stage I painted the lake with a bright blue and turquoise keeping the water calm and giving it a watery touch. I wanted to seperate the blue from the sky and water making both the blue colors different. On top I worked with the details on the boats applying titanium white with bright red and blue with the water reflections beneath the boats. I gave the water reflections a light watery touch so it felt like water. I also applied reflections of the mountains in the water too giving it a subtle touch.
To finish the artwork I painted the forest trees on land at the bottom of the left hand corner of the page. It became a different visual element added to the painting since I have never painted trees into the main foreground.
Overall I was amazed with painting all the visual elements I applied worked together well. I admired the details incorporated into the mountains together with the water reflections. It came out beautifully!
