Original artwork description:

This painting was created following my visit to Sri Lanka in August 2016. While staying on the coast near Trincomalee, my partner, daughter and I ventured to see the dolphins in the Indian Ocean, near Pigeon Island. We had to get up at dawn, and hired a fishing boat with a motor, driven by the fisherman, who was trying to catch fish at the same time as giving us a "tour". It was that time of the day when many other fishermen went fishing. On our way to the open sea we saw quite a few fishing boats with one or two people in them. We must have represented some kind of interest to those people - some of them were openly staring at us, as we were passing them in our small bouncy boat. I took a few photos of the fishermen, and used those photos to make a painting one year later. I loved the golden and red light of the hot rising sun, pushing away blue, grey and purple of a slightly cooler night, the stare of the curious fishermen, the glimpse into their life, which I had a chance to catch just for few seconds.
