Who's friends of who? These waders are very happy at the waters edge where the fish are playing around the rocks!
This mixed media painting has been made on a vintage French linen fabric. The birds, the boats, the fish and the horizon has all been stitched on machine to create clear outlines of all the details. I have then used gouache and acrylic paints to paint everything. I created the effect of the sky by using a sponge full of holes to get the mottled effect. The rocks are actually a different fabric that I stitched on and then painted over to create a different effect to the water. The beaks and legs of the birds are all stitched on by machine with a bright orange thread.
I have stitched the title of the collage and my signature onto the front of the painting.
This painting has been backed with a white cotton fabric and I have sewn a channel at the top so that it is ready to hang from a dowel or a wrought iron pole or similar. It can also be framed if that is preferred.
