Artwork description:

Archival pigment inks on a clear acrylic sheet in a unique 'virtual' frame.

Fish Can is part of the 'Surreal Fishions' series - a collection of wry observations on the global food industry. A digitally modified fish supper for the digital age.....

....and it took nearly twenty years to prepare! The picture of the sardine can was taken on good, old-fashioned film in the UK in the early nineties and the rather sad-looking fish was 'captured' digitally in Thailand in 2011.

The two images were happily married in a computer in the same year and are still together.

The whole image (including the virtual frame) is printed directly onto the back of a 1/4" thick sheet of clear acrylic using Epson's K3 archival pigment inks. The image is the art - it doesn't get any more crystal clear than this! The high gloss of the acrylic sheet complements the rich colors of this vibrant contemporary image to produce a stunning work of art.

Framing
The virtual framing concept looks exactly as it appears in the listing photographs - including the 'reflections' and the 'shadows'. The image and its frame are a single sheet of acrylic. This image can also be supplied without a frame for those who prefer to handle the framing themselves.

Hanging
The print is attached to a 1/4" thick back board which has a frame and hanging wire attached. Simply put a nail in your wall, hang your print from the hanging wire, and you're done. Due to the thickness of the board and mounting frame, the print hangs proud of the wall by 1.50"

A signed hand-written label for the back of the print and a Certificate of Print Authenticity are included.

This print ships from USA in a custom made box with tracking.

Materials used:

A sense of humour, one lugubrious fish, one sardine can, a computer, one large sheet of acrylic, light, silver, impeccable craftsmanship, dedication, blood, sweat & tears.
