Artist's description:

Passionate painters create artworks for themselves, not guided by what sells. Such an egotistical truth! I am such a one with this work being a prime example. The core of firefighters is volunteering for hazardous duty that will provide rescue, prevention and hope. In the days of this painting, circa 1880, a community having a horse drawn fire engine was rare. Also, having those dashing brass helmets and uniforms rarer still.

This is what I wanted to capture through various elements in this work. John 15:13 “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”
