The ink I use does a funny thing; the colors separate and absorb at different rates. The bright reds and magentas absorb first leaving the yellow and blues around the edges. The painting just needed a pop of blue to contrast the yellow and finish it off. The blue seems to be floating because it is so opaque on top of all the transparent layers.
