There is something about the human figure that elevates it above other subjects - perhaps it is because we see ourselves in them. Looking at the human figure is very personal.
My figure studies are not about the perfect human form, but about true human form. I prefer using models that look like real people. The photo used as reference for this drawing was purchased from a professional photographer, together with the right to create derivative works from it.
The medium is primarily pastels on regular cartridge paper, painted over with a solvent to smooth out the texture. It's a great way to recreate the "feel" of skin.
