Question for the artist?

Artist's description:

Today's Postcard: Fig and cheese. Still life: figs need timing. A friend likened them to peaches, as there is only a one-minute window of perfect ripeness. I'd say pears too. Figs also need looking at reverently, with the minimum of contact, fuss, and paint. I failed threefold. But at least they tasted beautiful together. The cheese is (was) a delicate Pont Gar Blue from near the Afon Towy, by Carmarthen.

Painted with Michael Harding paints on top of hadmade paint using Pembrokeshire soil. This is Pembrokeshire but we don't grow figs x

Materials used:

oil, canvas on board, homemade paint
