Feral Fruits and Wild Roses is a Large, abstract expressionist painting measuring 224 x 142 x 3 cm on 2 panels (Diptych), each panel measures 112 x 142 x 3cm. Feral Fruit, wild and unkempt grows reaching branches savage and sharp. The fruit delicate and sublime encased in thorns and a coil of arms wrapped like barbed wire, impenetrable. Autumns glow, like fire embers dying before winters chill burns bright, colours sharp and bold. Amidst the fury of the fruits, wild roses strive for sunlight, unkempt and unpreened but bewitchingly beautiful in there uncivilised state. Inspired by the neglected corners of my garden, where the wild things grow, I adore the primitive beauty of nature, the rampant strength of those neglected plants, the vicious teeth on the blackberry bushes. In this painting I wanted to capture these feral fruits and the roses that surround them. I have kept the painting loose and abstract so initially the viewer is met by a blaze of colour which on inspection becomes a wild garden in Autumn. The abstract nature of the painting is juxtaposed by delicate blackberries and butterflies which appear to the viewer like a mirage. Feral Fruits and Wild Roses is a large painting and a statement piece of art. It has been created on two panels each of which can be seen in the additional photographs. Because it is so large international shipping costs on the frame are quite expensive. Please contact me if you would prefer the canvas to be removed from the wooden frame to be shipped in a tube. The boxed edges of the painting are painted black. Feral Fruits and Wild Roses is ready to hang.
