This is a mixed media painting on a 40cm x 40cm deep edge canvas. The surface is built up into distinct areas of textured impasto and relief. Although at first sight, seemingly abstract, this painting conveys depth and space through the use of diminishing size and tonal perspective. Fallow refers to the tilling of the land prior to the growing season. To lie fallow, dormant, inactive....nothing could be further from the truth. It is also derived from the Middle English word falow, from Old English fealu; akin to Old High German falo or pale or grey.
This painting does not need to be framed, the edges are white and it is ready to hang.
