I particularly like trees. They reflect our emotions in a way that many things in the natural world do not. Longing, loneliness, sadness, melancholy, joy, strength and so on. More uniquely these are my 'fairy tale' trees, taken in the grounds of Highcliffe Castle, Dorset. The trees are up on a ridge and lean towards the coastline, as though longing to be closer to the light and the sea. I took the image late evening this summer in order to get some nice late light. I did not use a tripod as I prefer spontaneity. So I came upon this beautiful scene and balanced the camera on a fence and shot. Whenever I look at it I think of fairytales and Hans Christian Anderson.
