Eurydice was the wife of Orpheus. Upon her death, while still young, she was taken to the Underworld. Orpheus struck a deal with Hades whereby he could take her back to the world of the living, upon the condition that, trusting that she would be there, he did not look at her until they were safely returned. He couldn't do that and she faded back into the realm of Hades. I've always thought that it was very unfair on Eurydice, as she had no say in her fate -Hades and Orpheus ruined that for her, so that's why I've depicted her fading away without hands, as she had no hand in her own story.
