Artist's description:

This oil painting shows the young woman Europa and the Greek god Zeus, disguised as a bull. The painting was inspired by the ancient myth of Europe and Zeus. Zeus is often described as a notorious womanizer and in this myth he disguised himself as a beautiful bull decorated with flowers to seduce a young woman. For Zeus I painted a young, white bull from Hoeve Ravestein and beefed him up to look older (after all Zeus is quite senior) and I used a golden flower garland to reign her in. Both figures are set against a dark indigo blue background.

This oil painting is a handmade, unique artwork, signed at the back. It is painted on linen, using artist grade oil paints, media and varnish. The painting is composed of several overlapping layers that work together to create a three-dimensional effect. You can find more detailed information on my painting method including a few examples of successive paint layers in the 'Me at work' section of this website.

The artwork will be shipped in a sturdy cardboard box, secured and wrapped in special laminated bubble wrap to ensure the safety of the painting during transport. Shipping is provided by PostNL. For NL, PostNL usually delivers the next day after shipping, Europe, 2-5 days.
