Artist's description:

“Eunois” forms part of a series of works created by Lou called “Wabi-sabi”. “Wabi-sabi” is the discovery of beauty in the imperfection; the acceptance of the cycle of life and death. Lou likes the idea of humanising flowers, the connection to the passage of time, of life and death and the impermanence of us all.
“Eunois” means beautiful thinking or a well mind.
When Lou created this work in oil, it was originally very vibrant in reds and oranges, turquoises and yellows representing a colourful, well led, healthy life. Whilst working through the artwork and ‘fading’ this energy Lou wanted to show this fading of life gracefully. The use of the grey is an obvious representation of the ageing process but also shows an underlying modernity to the piece – everyone uses grey these days from the colour of their hair to the colour on their walls. The distressed aspect to the work shows the sparks of life still showing through!
