Original artwork description:
I have a daughter that is, cliches aside, a true force of nature. Destroyer, creator, and everything in between. She is my studio mate and will paint with me often and I love those times. She also is one of my top two models (my son being the other). We raided her mother's closet and pulled a few dozen scarves, handbags, and shoes and she donned all these items for a photo shoot. I have more paintings to come from this event, but I was drawn to how confident and physically present her poses were...draping the fabric herself, standing precariously on top of two stools placed together. This abstraction of her holding the bag with the complex folding of the scarves had to be my first.
Eris was the goddess of strife, discord, choas (daimona). Was known to delight in war and human bloodshed and was the impetus for the Trojan War.
I liked the correlation to this image, with the landscape laid out, like a battle plan, and the blood red handbag representing the outcome of war. Eris satisfied with the bounty.
"Morbi in sinus temporis" means "Into the folds and fabric of time", which speaks to Eris being embedded in our human nature, history, and future.
