Original artwork description:

After a base coat of acrylic paint on the canvas all other marks were made with either stems or roots of horsetail (Equisetum) or a feather. It was painted outside; the Equisetum was from the nearby pond and the feather was on the lawn. The result is a painting quite unlike any other I have done.

Equisetums are the only living relatives of plants that were a dominant feature of the late Paleozoic age, which included the Carboniferous period when many of our coal deposits were formed.

The construction is canvas stretched over a wooden frame which is not visible. It is ready to hang.

Materials used:

After a base coat of acrylic paint on the canvas all other marks were made with either stems or roots of horsetail (Equisetum) or a feather.
