Artist's description:

The starting point for this painting was the abstracted woodland painting, layers of pastel and acrylics combine to create an atmospheric, softly coloured landscape. There is an overall wintry feel to the painting so I have used the butterflies as a metaphor for spring and new life emerging.
The butterflies are handpunched from fragments of antique music manuscript, the soft buff colour works beautifully with the colours in the painting.

Framed in a simple white box frame so ready to hang.

Materials used:

acrylic paints, pastels, antique music manuscript
