Elsewhere by Chaline Ouellet 16x20 acrylic on traditional canvas.
This figurative piece portrays a woman who is emerging. the main figure looking downward may be considering her self, her place in life, where she lives while dreaming of being elsewhere. The vague green figure holds a leaf, perhaps hope and seems to be moving out of her body. The central figure is also looking at the two figures at the bottom, laying together with one embracing the other. The figures are set in a somewhat fantasy landscacpe full of colorful pine, cypress and other trees under a bright blue sky with an warm orange sun and black birds flying. I titled this piece after the Sarah McLaughlin Song of the same title, a song that speaks to hope "I believe there is a distance I have wandered to touch upon the years, reaching out , reaching in.... I believe this is heaven to no one else but me and I'll defend it as long as I'm left here to linger in silence if I choose to. " S. McLaughlin.
