‘Elegante’ is part of a series of small paintings with a musical theme, the shabby chic lyricism of this one causing it to acquire its name. This little painting is built up in many layers of collage, mixed media and oils mixed with a cold wax medium. The wax medium adds texture and gives translucency to the layers. Hand screen-printed pieces of collage peak through and also snippets of colour where layers of oil paint have been scraped back. The painting comes in a grey-white wooden box frame and is ready to hang
