Artist's description:

This image is part of a series of images drawn using a Japanese brush pen and ink.

The image is from the Egyptian uprising as part of the Arab Spring, drawing these images in response to the situation that was happening at the time, highlighting those who stood up to regime, rising up and succeeding because of 'leaked' information via Wiki-leaks and the increasing availability of social networking and sharing previously classified information in countries who seemed to be locked into dictatorship regimes of control.

These become symbolic of those who fight for the right to be free and set a new path for others to follow many years later. Of course the question always remains as to what exactly is freedom and how free is anyone, regardless of the regime in place running a country in an era of increased instability.
