Question for the artist?

Artist's description:

"My heart, like a peacock on a rainy day,
spreads its plumes tinged with rapturous colours of thoughts,
and in its ecstasy seeks some vision in the sky,
with a longing for one whom it does not know. "
- Rabindranath Tagore

This is a unique one-off artwork. I was inspired by my recent visit to India and the monsoon. The peacock heralds the arrival of the rains spreading its colourful feathers and dancing to the first drops. It is this unadulterated ecstacy and joy that I have tried to replicate in this print.

Using a unique painterly multi-layered approach to screenprinting, the print is also layered with my own designed woodblocks from traditional indian motifs and peacock feathers, in green, blue, red and orange. I have tried to give a free loose feel to this print that uses inspiration from colours, smells, sights and textures of India during the monsoon season. I have then also overlaid it with gold to give it a luxurious look and feel.

This is a unique print and no other similar one exists. It is made using water and oil based inks on beautifully smooth Japanese paper. I will package the print securely in a hardbacked envelope and send it first class signed for in the UK. If your country is not listed in the shipping table, pleased of send me a message,
