Early Autumn Breeze
An elegant abstract monotype painting. The bold movement in the gold acrylic paint across the smooth paper surface evokes the feeling of an autumn breeze.
September and October are my favorite months here in New England. This piece was inspired by the change of seasons as the leaves change from green to gold and red. The air is still a bit warm but the subtle breezes are cool and foretell the coming autumn.
I created this work using gold metallic, black, red and green-gold acrylic paints. I apply the paint to a gelatin plate using rollers, and spatulas and then transfer the paint to the paper. This monotype is created on an 11" x 14" piece of Arches 88 paper - it has a deckled ege. The image itself is 8" x 10"
The art does not adhere to a strict rectangle and has its own loose personality. It brings a pleasant fall mood to a little nook or a larger grouping of similar small works.
