Artist's description:

"Ear" is my second entry into the competition that Artfinder is holding in occasion of International Women's Day on the 8th March, 2017. Quote: "Only 1 out of 100 of the top lots sold at auction in 2015 was by a woman, and none of the world's Top Ten richest living artists are women". unquote
The competition aims at challenging this sexism in the art world and encourage galleries to come forward with their statistics to lift the lid, so to speak, off this incredible situation. Because "awareness is the first step".
The title comes from my thoughts about Van Gogh's action. In cutting off his ear, he probably gained more attention for his art. Should we women do something like this? Can Tracy Emin's famous bed installation be considered a contemporary ear?

The sides of this painting are painted turquoise and it is on a deep-edged gallery wrapped canvas meaning no frame is required.
