Artist's description:

Sometimes you have to tackle things head on. Close enough to really observe this was a day for doing a portrait. As the final in the series of four taken from a morning session with the model this drawing aims to capture a mood through colour and line.

Delivered in a 42 x 42 cm mount/mat and cellophane to protect the drawing. The pastel is lightly fixed.

Going to open sessions with a life model is great to improve observation skills. This helps me to paint my larger works with a good understanding of how the bones and muscles look different in various positions.

It's also good for loosening up for a later painting session, trying out different media, colour combinations or pattern styles for tone.

NB the colour of the picture may be slightly different on your monitor/phone depending on settings.
